You’re finally in your new house and you’re looking forward to kicking back and relaxing. The move is a stressful process so it’s nice to have it behind you. Unfortunately, the fact that you’re in your new home doesn’t mean that you have nothing left to do. On the contrary, now is the time to get things from your post-move checklist done. Sorry to disappoint you. You may be done with residential moving companies Kuwait, but you’re not done with tasks. There are some things you need to do in order to lead a normal life after the move. If you don’t know what you should do, here’s some help.
First on your post-move checklist: utilities
In this day and age, you can’t function without water and electricity. And something that might be even more important in 2019 is the Internet. So, once you’re in your new home, you want to make sure that all of these things are up and running. Utilities may have been shut off before you moved in, in which case you’ll need to contact different companies. Call the power, water, gas and telephone companies as well as your cable and Internet providers. While you’re calling all the companies and providers, you can search for a warehouse Kuwait to store things you don’t have space for. After you sort this out and check these things off your post-move checklist, you’ll have normal living conditions.
Update your address
Another essential thing on the list of things to do after the move is updating your address. In case you haven’t changed your address before the move, this is the time to do it. You need to notify the Postal Service about your new address. Otherwise, getting mail and bills might get a bit challenging. This isn’t a complicated task, but you can make your life complicated if you don’t do it on time. So, avoid any problems and update your address. You should also notify your friends, employers and coworkers about your new address in case they need it.
Unpacking is next on the post-move checklist
Just like packing, unpacking is inevitable. As you can hire professional packers to help you put everything into boxes, unpacking is more of a hassle because you’re doing it alone. However, it has to be done. The best thing to do is to start with the most important things.
- If you packed a box of essentials, start there.
- And if you packed an overnight bag for your first night in the new house, you can unpack that in the beginning as well.
- Unpack sheets and towels. Make your bed and ensure that your first night there will be a comfortable one.
- Unpack some clothes to be able to change out of your moving day outfit. Get a few different outfits out of the boxes and grab some pajamas. Make sure you’ll have things to wear until everything is unpacked and in its place.
- Get cutlery, some plates and glasses out of the boxes. Ensure that you can have a proper meal while unpacking and checking things off of the post-relocation checklist.
These basics are enough for the first few days, but you’ll have to continue unpacking everything else soon. This is a good start.
Update your driver’s license and register your car
If you’re one of those people whose car is their most prized possession, you have some things to take care of after the move. You need to have a valid license if you want to be able to drive. And to have a valid license, you need to update your address. You can do some research online and see what kind of paperwork you need to have if you want to get this done. Once your license is taken care of you can register your car and start driving. Congrats, you’ve taken care of another thing on your post-move to-do list!
Transfer your medical records
Now, this is something you can’t forget. Well, you can forget it, but you shouldn’t. Your medical records are very important and you need to transfer them to your new location. Take the records from your previous health provider before you relocate. After relocating to Kuwait, select new health providers and bring your records to them. You might not need them now, but you never know when you’ll need to pay a visit to the doctor’s office. The same goes for your pet’s veterinarian records. So, it’s better to take care of this as soon as possible, there’s no need to procrastinate. Remember to write this simple task on your post-move list.
Transfer your child’s school records
If you’ve moving with your kid and they’re starting a new school, you need to transfer their school records. It’s best to visit the new school and inquire about all the needed paperwork. You might need to pay for some of these papers, so prepare yourself for that. As your kid is starting a new school, they’re probably very nervous. So, don’t cause them any problems by not taking care of the paperwork. Gather all the necessary papers and take them to your child’s new school. Just like medical records, you can’t forget to add this to your list of things to do after the relocation.
Meet the neighbors and the post-move checklist is done
Finally, the fun part! When you finish with all the phone calls and documentation, you can finally get out of the house and have some fun. It’s time to meet your new neighbors if you haven’t already and get to know your new environment. Get to know the people around yourself and make some friends. You can invite them over to a house-warming party or simply go over and say hello. Another fun thing you can look forward to is exploring your new neighborhood. The neighbors can help you out with this one and give you some directions and advice if necessary. Your post-move checklist is done. So, have fun, you’ve deserved it!
